Apple updates AirPods Pro, but also AirPods 3

The AirPods Pro were presented by Apple yesterday, but they are not the only wireless headphones to be updated by Apple.

Apple had made an appointment with the public yesterday for an important back-to-school keynote. At this event, called ‘Far Out’, Apple spoke at length about the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro, the real stars of the evening. But during this conference, Apple also took advantage of its audience’s attention to present the new AirPods Pro to the world.

These headphones are an update of the first generation of the product released in 2019. They are heralded by Apple as more powerful and durable. The Cupertino company also explained during its keynote that it had worked a lot on active noise cancellation, making it twice as powerful as the first version.

Apple: An update in the shadow of the AirPods Pro

But in addition to this important novelty, Apple has decided to make a more discreet update to its products. Indeed, the AirPods 3 also had the right to improvement. The Apple brand is now offering to buy these wireless headphones, which were first presented in October 2021, in a version with a wired box only.

Since the AirPods 2, Apple has offered a case that supports wireless charging. A very useful feature, which stems from the AirPower project, which was to standardize wireless charging for the general public. With the AirPods 3 released last year, Apple didn’t even give users a choice.

The headphones were available in a wireless version, and while the Lightning port was still there, wired charging wasn’t Apple’s priority. But today, the Apple brand seems to be on the decline. It just added a slightly cheaper version of the AirPods 3 to its site, with a case that isn’t compatible with wireless charging.

A little lower price

In terms of the final price, the difference is minimal. The difference between the two models is 10 euros. You’ll have to pay $219 for the MagSafe charging compatible version for these AirPods 3, compared to $209 for the wired version that just hit the official Apple Store.

This isn’t the first time Apple has used a keynote to make unannounced changes to its online Apple Store. During several events in the past, the apple brand has taken advantage of the arrival of new products to introduce small additional accessories.

This is especially the case with Apple Watch bracelets that are rarely presented live, but are often entitled to an update the day after the keynote.
