Dehradun:

Congress Uttarakhand Unit leader Karan Mahara alleged that the BJP’s “sleeping cells” had entered the party and were trying to weaken it in every way.

Although Mr Mahara did not take a name, he said anyone speaking out against a Congress leader must go hand in hand with the BJP.

“These are people who were put in Congress by the BJP. They are BJP supporters. They will definitely oppose or engage in ‘defamation’ of anyone who tries to strengthen Congress,” Mahara said while addressing party workers on Thursday.

Referring to a meeting held by Amit Shah with BJP MPs, he said the Union Home Secretary advised them to follow the mantra of ‘breaking idols’ to weaken Congress and come to power .

“Breaking idols means indulging in the defamation of Congress leaders who are doing well and that is exactly what these elements planted in Congress by the BJP are doing. They are in the Congress office during the day and in the BJP leadership at night,” Mr Mahara said.

He also warned party workers to be on their guard against such elements.
