Tender is the Night at Goolugatup Heathcote is back for a second season and ready to set the stage for all types of date night as some of Perth’s finest musicians take to the stage to perform their hits with the Tender Strings Quartet.

This unique event will see songs by ARIA-nominated and multi-award winning Afro-Creole singer and songwriter Grace Barbe and Fremantle folk legend Jack Davies reimagined by the string quartet for an intimate concert.

What makes the show special is that each artist will perform their tracks with the quartet for the very first time on the night of the event.

“I’ve been excited for a while now,” Barbe said. “When the Tender is the Night team first approached us about this concept I was totally interested, there was no way I was going to say no to something like this.

“We sent them the recordings of our setlist of songs and they composed all the songs for a string quartet.

“And that’s the magic of it all, you know, it’s going to be the first time we’ve done a stripped-down, completely acoustic show with a string quartet.”

Barbe has handpicked songs from her three albums to perform on the night, including Mon Ankor Anmoure, which translates to, I’m Still In Love.

“I have a band and that’s how I usually play, so playing these songs like that will be so special,” she said.

“I don’t get the chance to do the stripped down acoustic performance, it’s quite rare for me, but this Sunday will be the night it happens and it will be magical.”

Tender is the Night is a picnic-style event, so people are encouraged to bring their own cushions, mats, drinks and nibbles and settle in for an enjoyable evening of music.

Grace Barbe and Jack Davies will perform Nov. 27 from 6-8 p.m., with tickets available for purchase on the Town of Melville’s website.
