Lenny Henry backs our campaign to tackle cost of living crisis

Our Christmas appeal to help those struggling with the cost of living crisis received a boost today with a £300,000 donation from Amazon, bringing the total to over £1.8million.

Lenny Henry, who co-founded Comic Relief, our appeal partner, supported our campaign and called on people to take action because “together we can make a difference”.

The comedian, who is one of Britain’s most beloved personalities, said: “I’m incredibly proud that from the start of Comic Relief he’s been there to support people when they need it most, and I’m equally proud of how people come together to make this support possible.

“The cost of living crisis is a time when the most vulnerable communities will be hardest hit. No one should be afraid of what this winter might bring for them and their family. But together we can change that, together we can make a difference.

On The Breadline, our joint campaign with sister title the evening standardlaunched this week with Comic Relief pledging £1million.

The money raised will be distributed as grants to organizations helping disadvantaged people across the UK.
