“We know that the biggest killer when it comes to bushfires is indecision, so we urge people to develop their own bushfire plan, or update it, to keep their lives safe. family and their property,” he said.

DFES South West District Officer Phil Roach said conditions in the South West are drier than they were last year which could mean an early start to the season. bush fires.

“We encourage everyone to have a bushfire action plan in place and update their plans regularly,” he said.

Mr Roach said it was important for people to familiarize themselves with Australia’s new fire risk rating system.

“The rating system is divided into moderate, high, extreme and catastrophic.

“Each of these notes has a message with it; for example, moderate is planned and prepared, high is to be ready to act, extreme is to take action and protect your life and property, and catastrophic is for your survival and leaving bushfire risk areas.

Mr Roach said it was important to stay informed and be vigilant throughout the bushfire season.
