NEW DELHI (Reuters) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid tribute to famed Assam warrior Lachit Borphukan on his 400th birthday and said the leader embodied unprecedented courage.

“Greetings on Lachit Diwas. This Lachit Diwas is special as we mark the 400th anniversary of the birth of the great Lachit Borphukan,” Modi said in a tweet. “He (Borphukan) embodied unprecedented courage.
