On the Delhi-Jabalpur SpiceJet flight, passengers noticed smoke inside the plane as it passed at 500ft on Saturday. The SpiceJet plane then returned safely to Delhi airport, the airline said in a statement. “All passengers disembarked the plane safely at Delhi airport,” a SpiceJet spokesperson told ANI news agency. The agency also shared a video showing how passengers fanned themselves with newspapers and airline booklets as smoke entered the cabin.
This is the second incident in two weeks when a fire occurred on a SpiceJet aircraft. On June 19, a similar incident occurred on the Patna-Delhi flight.
The fire in the plane was noticed while the plane was between Khagaul and Phulwarisharif, 2 nautical miles from Patna airport. Subsequently, the aircraft landed at Patna airport after smoke was noticed on one of the aircraft’s left engines.
