Subiaco kicks off Christmas Cocktail Crawl and other events in the western suburbs this holiday season


With just a month to go until the big day, the festive season is in full swing in the western suburbs and communities are gearing up to celebrate Christmas without restrictions related to COVID-19 events.

Subiaco’s Christmas Cocktail Tour kicks off today – Thursday November 24 – and runs until Christmas Day, with 10 bars and restaurants whipping up special festive treats to attract customers across the city.

Visitors can be entertained on a tasting tour of the city with stops at Little Things Gin, Subi Hotel, Accent Cafe, El Peruvian, La Condesa, Dilly Dally, Bark, Bar Amelie, Lums, and The Unicorn Bar.

Hay Street’s new addition, Lums Wine Bar, will serve its Drunken Snowman cocktail featuring raspberry sorbet, traditional method sparkling burgundy and crème de cassis.

“We did this at Bark last year, and we had so many people actively looking for all the cocktails and wanting to try something new,” co-owner Mitchell Jenkin said.

“It gives all sites the opportunity to do something playful at Christmas – had a great response last time.”

Subiaco Mayor David McMullen said it’s been great to see businesses bringing new life to downtown.

“It’s the first Christmas in a while that’s been relatively COVID-free, so we’re expecting a lot of traffic through the doors of participating venues and hopefully a good number of out-of-town visitors as well. from the suburbs,” he said.

“I can’t get enough of people saying it’s great to see Subiaco really pick up…I think you can walk the streets and see that’s absolutely true and it’s all happening here. .”

Other Christmas events to look forward to

The free Sunset @ Subi Concerts series will also return, with the Australian Beatles headlining after their performance fell victim to COVID-19 last year.

This year’s program includes six concerts until February 5, beginning with the Classical Christmas Concert at Lake Jualbup on December 18.

The Merry Moments of Subiaco will animate the streets with Christmas-themed activities every Friday until December 16.

Carols by the Lake kicks off in the city of Cambridge on December 4 from 4 p.m. at Lake Monger with free activities, live music and roving performers.

Cottesloe Carols By Candelight will feature food trucks, Santa and carols starting at 5:30 p.m. on the lawn of the Cottesloe Civic Center on December 10.
